About
Designed by Vicente Bravo Ferreira and built in 1988 it displays an ambitious design intent and rigorous architectural detailing uncommon on technical buildings. This substation is one of the 23 primary substations now in operation by CEM, functioning as part of the complex of electrical energy production, transmission and distribution system in the residential area. It is designed as an urban artifact in dialogue with the immediate surroundings, conceived simultaneously as a functional “machine” for electrical components and as a “temple” for their operators.
