About
D. Pedro V Theatre is located on a vantage position on a hilltop. Alongside with Saint Augustine Church and the Saint Joseph Seminary, it stood out once as a cultural landmark on the city’s skyline. It was built in 1860 and considered the first western-style theatre built in China. It displays a neoclassical architectural language by Pedro Germano Marques and saw the construction of its current façade adorned with a triangular portico being built in 1873 penned by António Alexandrino Melo.
